13th Annual SONYA Studio Stroll!

Hola hola! When I first moved to the neighborhood, I heard about SONYA (South of the Navy Yard Artists) and checked out the studio stroll that year and had a great time! Stop by this weekend (it’s going to be goregous!) and check out the artwork by the amazing artists in this year’s 13th Annual SONYA Studio Stroll on Saturday June 9th & Sunday, June 10th from 12PM- 6PM both days, rain or shine. Of course, it’s free and open to the public. The studio stroll takes place throughout the Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Wallabout and Bed-Stuy neighborhoods so check out the site for more information, down load maps, preview artists page, etc.!

Other related SONYA Studio Stroll events I recommend are:

* Friday, June 8th! Come out to play and make art with SONYArtists from 3PM - 6PM at the Putman Triangle on Fulton Ave.! FREE! Featuring hands-on mosaic making, comic Illustration/storyboard, watercolor painting, urban landscape drawing, sculpture and more!

*SONYA Prelude Exhibition at The Alumni Room Gallery at St. Joseph’s College, 245 Clinton Ave.. The exhibition is up during the stroll and the closing receptions on Sunday, June 10th, 6:30PM - 9PM

*Check out more of SONYArtist’s work as you stroll down Myrtle Ave. Join the SONYArtists for a guided tour on June 21st. The tour begins at Connecticut Muffin (423 Myrtle Ave.) at 7PM, and closes with a reception and party at The Emerson (561 Myrtle Ave.) in conjunction with the SONYA Social.

Meet Gisela Insuaste, the GO Neighborhood Coordinator for Clinton Hill, Fort Greene and the Navy Yard.  Gisela is an artist and educator.  She is also the Manager of Nature and Art Programs at Wave Hill where she oversees nature, art and wellness public programs (think: photography, painting, writing, birding walks, bat walks, yoga, tai chi). Gisela lives in the Clinton Hill/Ft Greene and likes to bike, rock climb, and make empanadas.  In her own words…
I’ve lived in Clinton Hill/Ft Greene for 3 years.
You’ll most often find me hanging out at Maggie Brown’s.
I’ll never move from  Clinton Hill/Ft Greene because of the tree-lined streets, parks, and my studio down the street!
